Kurt Angle says Jason Jordan was on his way to being a main eventer in WWE before suffering serious

Back in 2017, WWE decided to make Jason Jordan Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son.

Angle had just returned to the company after an 11 year hiatus and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Although the Olympic hero wanted a return to the ring, and ideally the world title picture, Angle was instead reintroduced as the GM of Monday Night RAW.

The first storyline Angle was given, around six weeks after taking up the position, was the scandal that only Corey Graves appeared to know about.

Eventually, it was revealed that Jordan was Angle’s son.

Of course, this was much to the amusement of the WWE Universe because of their differing skin tones. Angle, however, suspects WWE did that on purpose to try and appease fans, strangely enough.

Speaking on his new podcast The Kurt Angle Show, the legendary grappler discussed how he had indeed wanted to work with Jordan and then American Alpha tag team partner Chad Gable.

“I was excited because I wanted to pair up with Jason and Chad when they were tag team partners," said Angle.

"I wanted to wrestle and I wanted to be the world champion and have them be the tag team champions just like Team Angle.

“I thought it made a lot of sense and they decided that I was going to have an illegitimate son and they weren’t sure who it was going to be.

"They decided to pick Jason over Chad, I’m not sure why, it might have been a politically correct move.”

Jordan was flying high on RAW before suffering a serious neck injury in early 2018. He was forced to undergo surgery that would reportedly keep him out for up to a year, but he hasn’t been seen in the ring since.

He hasn’t officially retired and Gable says Jordan is trying to make a comeback eventually, but it's a difficult road for sure.

Angle says prior to the injury, Jordan was on his way to being a real main eventer.

“I was happy, I was excited about it because Jason was improving," added Angle. "He was on his way to main event status until he hurt his neck, that’s when the program ended.

"I was stuck high and dry without a partner for the next WrestleMania [35] because that’s who I was going to wrestle was Jason.”

Jordan could have had the WrestleMania match with Angle and maybe he’d be a world champion today if it wasn’t for that terrible injury.
